The Saudi Export Development Authority revealed that the Turkish authorities have agreed to abolish the tax imposed on the import of Saudi dates, allowing Saudi date producers to expand in Turkish markets without customs restrictions. "Saudi Exports" also stressed its continuous work to remove all the challenges to Saudi exporters and push Saudi exports towards greater penetration in international markets.
The Authority added that it has received the official approval from the Turkish side regarding the abolition of the customs tax on all the Kingdom's exports of dates, being one of the most competitive Saudi products in the Turkish and international markets with annual revenues exceeding SAR 500 million.
"Saudi Exports" noted that the Saudi exports of all kind of dates to international markets amounted to SAR 525.5 million last year, with an annual growth rate of 12% between 2010 and 2015. Date products manufactured in the various areas of Saudi Arabia show high quality compared to those in international markets, giving them a significant competitive advantage compared to other countries' products.
The Authority expected the volume of Saudi date exports to increase by a larger percentage after the Turkish authorities' decision to abolish the customs tax, as it will undoubtedly boost the strength and competitiveness of Saudi date products in the Turkish market, one of the most important regional markets in size and motion.
